Position: Part-Time Animal Care Assistant
This position is currently filled but we will hold resumes for future openings.
Position Description: Under the guidance of the Curator of Living Exhibits, assist in the care of our live animal collections at the Wildlife Education Center.
Responsibilities to include:
• Assist the Curator of Living Exhibits in the care of the animals.
• Daily care and feeding of animals.
• Daily documentation in animal care log book.
• Assist educators in preparing animals for programs or returning them after programs.
• Cleaning and upkeep of enclosures to accepted standards.
• Maintenance of support systems (filters, heat, lighting).
• Assisting staff with building and grounds projects, exhibits, and fundraising events as needed.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma required.
• College degree or courses in biology, zoology, wildlife preferred.
• Experience with exotic and or wild animals helpful.
• Must be a team player with creativity, imagination, and energy.
• Must have good communication and inter-personal skills.
• Must possess a strong interest and enthusiasm about the environment and a desire to share that appreciation of nature with children.
• Must be organized and efficient.
Status: Part-Time
0-20 hours/week

Position: Part-Time Environmental Educator
Position Description: Under the guidance of the Education Coordinator and in cooperation with Environmental Educators, execute programs and presentations for school and camp groups at our Wildlife Education and Outdoor Discovery Centers.
Responsibilities to include:
• The school/camp field trip experience; including checking schedules, preparing program materials, meeting buses, presenting programs which may include live animals, guiding hikes, river seining, assisting in the gift shop, assisting with picnic supervision and clean-up.
• Museum in-school visits including getting directions, driving to and from school locations and presenting programs.
• Maintaining and replenishing teaching supplies.
• Possible planning and presenting of public programs, scout programs & other various groups.
• Nature themed Birthday parties, including set up, program delivery and clean up.
• Animal care as needed.
• Assisting staff with building and grounds projects, exhibits, and fundraising events as needed.
Qualifications:
• College degree in Environmental Science, Education, or related Natural Sciences preferred.
• Minimum two years teaching experience or equivalent, preferably at the elementary level.
• Must be a team player with creativity, imagination, and energy.
• Must have good communication and inter-personal skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification – will train.
• Must possess a strong interest and enthusiasm about the environment and a desire to share that appreciation of nature with children.
Status: Part-Time, flexible hours
